Sometimes a photograph starts long before the camera ever comes out of the bag. I had this image in my head of an old windmill standing beneath a sky full of stars. The only problem was finding the right windmill. I spent nearly four hours driving the backroads of Oklahoma, searching and hoping I would find one before the night got away from me. Then, at just the right time, I found it. Standing quietly along a rural fence line, the old windmill was exactly what I had been looking for. As darkness settled in, the Milky Way began to stretch across the sky behind it and suddenly all those miles made sense. Where the Wind Still Turns is a reminder that sometimes the photograph you are chasing is out there. You just have to keep driving long enough to find it.
