The Blue Swallow Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico, is one of the most recognizable landmarks along historic Route 66. I photographed it during my journey down the Mother Road in June, drawn to the vintage neon sign, the classic Buick, and the feeling that I had stepped back into another era.
Presented in black and white, this photograph strips away the distractions of the present and preserves the romance of the open road. It is a glimpse of a time when roadside motels welcomed weary travelers beneath glowing neon and every stop held the promise of another story.
