Grand Falls has long been one of Joplin’s most recognizable natural places, yet I had spent far too much time away from it with my camera. This photograph was made during a return to a familiar waterfall, taking in the layered rock, flowing water, and summer color that surround the falls.
It is a reminder that you do not always have to travel far to find a scene worth standing still for. Sometimes the places closest to home are the ones waiting to be seen again.
